Before you start reading the blog let me first share, I completed
12 Km run today morning. It was a moment which will be remembered by me for long time. Wow. What a feeling.
It was always back in my mind to touch 10 Km atleast. There can be an argument floating around. What is so big deal in running 12km. By considering my personal fitness level and body mass, it was a huge ask from me.
Coming to the 12km run, I had planned it 24 hours before. I knew I had to feed myself properly the whole day. Else I would faint on the way. I had good food like
chapatis, cabbage, apple, mango, lemon juice, rava dosa(south indian delight). I didnt eat rice, it would be a heavy diet and it would come in the way for my long run.
Before the run I made sure I get good sleep in night. I went to sleep early by 2230hrs so that I can wake up early by 0500hrs to get ready for the run.
By 0545hrs I reached
Shivaji Park(SP).
As soon as I reached SP I realized will Mumbai ever sleep.
I started the iPod to listen music while running, then started the pedometer which is inbuilt in the iPod. Then I started to move, I started to run.
I was not very slow, not very fast either. But I managed to keep a pace which will keep me going far.
Because I knew I need not win any race, I just had to compete against myself initially.
External Circumference of SP is 1.2 Km exact. So it was easier for the calculation. First 4 rounds were not much troublesome, as I am used to the 4 rounds.
The real race started when I started the 5th round.
During the whole journey of 12 Km, the only thing which was running in my mind was to somehow complete the 10 rounds of SP by running. You cannot run just by thinking.
For my case atleast it required a lot of inspiration.
I took inspiration from the fellow joggers who are atleast more fitter than me. In every round I used to see one guy or girl and run even harder.
I started to sweat like a Pig. My tshirt and track pant was full of sweat, no one would believe it was because of the sweat or because of pouring water.
The more nearer I reached the target of 10 rounds, the more pain I felt in my legs. After all it has to carry a huge mass of unhealthy body.
But giving up after coming so far was not an option.
Inch by inch, meter by meter I completed the 12 Km.
It was a moment which made me very happy in recent times.
Next target would be to touch the 15 Km run and then the 20 Km. It would not be easy, but not difficult either.
To all the running folks of SP, thanks for motivating eventhough you were all strangers.
