Mile Sur Mera Tumhara 2010

02 Feb 2010 20:31:11

(One of my blogging friend had suggested me to write something on Mile Sur Mera Tumhara new version.)

What an amazing song it was. I still remember long back when we didnt had any cable connection at our home I used to watch DD. In a day atleast 5-6 times this song used to feature and not a single time I was bored. The reason was I was able to see everything in it. The culture of India, Sports persons ,Actors, Musicians and the biggest our common man. It was such beautifully combined with the unique mixture of every aspect of India. I am sure many people would agree with it.

Mile Sur Mera Tumhara - Old

Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara - New(2010)

I am highly disappointed with the new version of Mile Sur. It didnt come upto the expectation of what the old version had created. If I get a chance to meet the directors of the song I would ask them "Kya hua...". I do agree that we need to portray the new genre of India in whatever we do. It is fine that old people like the Legend Lata Mangeshkar was not invited to be a part of the new version may be she has become old and it would be quite familiar if you call the same person . But atleast you could have done proper justice with the present lot.

It is good if you are including many film stars. But what has happened to the sports stars are they not doing anything for the country ,dont they represent india to the world. It was quite unnecessary to fill the Phir Mile Sur with many actors, instead they could have included the sports stars like Tendulkar,Sania Mirza,Leander,Bhupati,Vishwanath Anand....

The purity ,simplicity, the elegance was there in the previous version, but this version lacked all these essentials. In the end I can just say, it was really a good attempt to remake the old patritiotic song which was filled with some important lessions of unity in diversity. It could have been more better " kyonki yeh dil always maange more " when it comes to patriotism.

Moral : Phir Mile Sur Mera Tumhara didnt come upto the expectation. But it was a nice attempt.

At least we agree on one thing... This "Phir Mile Sur" was the most ruthless murder of the very soul of "Mile Sur". One after other bollywood star came in the most shameful manner advertising himself. How come the "New India" is only represented by bollywood stars and their families only!!!

The new "mile sur" has come at a time when it is needed the most. Now that we are seeing a lot of "not mile sur" thinking growing among people. At least we should take the spirit of the "mile sur" in building one India. Mile sur mera thumara...
